About Us

Spring of 2007 I attended a day long seminar on Best Management Practices (BMP) hosted by the Friends of the San Juans.  One of the speakers on that day was Elliot Menashe of Greenbelt Consulting.  The examples and methods of Low Impact Development LID that Elliot presented confirmed my desire to implement proper stewardship and preservation measures, on this current project.

I recently dialogued with Elliot regarding our project and to thank him for his wisdom and insight which confirmed our overall planned approach.  Elliot said regarding my stated objectives that, "this would establish you (me) as a Green Builder from beyond the ground up."  Elliot also recommended that I build relationships with the Conservation District and with Friends of the San Juans.  Elliot thought that this project would generate measurable interest with those organizations.

Elliot also suggested that I carefully document all costs related to every effort taken to adhere to targeted standards and approaches.  To his knowledge no comparative cost study of LID vs. the traditional approach has been done.  I am committed to do that as a separate project within the overall project.  I hope to show in the final outcome that the comparative cost will not be too different, and the choices made were the right thing to do.  I welcome this challenge.

Today the permit for this construction project has been secured and we are in the preparation stages for construction.

Update March 27, 2009

With spring upon us, summer around the corner and the opportunity to spend more time on San Juan, I am anxious to further along the site preparation and continue to make visible progress.
