FridayHarborRemodel.com is a means to formally introduce Passage NW Partners and JM Bogan Co. Inc. to San Juan Island proper and all neighboring islands. Our efforts to establish a useful presence on San Juan Island has taken near three years now.

It all began in the spring of 2005 when I visited Friday Harbor to rekindle a decades-long friendship with Jim Moe of Monroe Custom Buildings. During that visit, Jim and I committed to pool our combined talents to develop and produce an island friendly residential project.

We selected and purchased a building lot, just shy 2/3 acre at 62 Quadra Lane just off Beaverton Valley Road, San Juan County.

Our objective has been to not only design and construct an island friendly residence but also to implement certain Built Green standards of high energy efficiency and sustainability. We will be implementing low impact development (LID) practices to minimize impact to the lot as well as surrounding areas. The footprint of the residence was chosen so that it would be surrounded by native vegetative barriers substantial enough to mitigate runoff and environmental impact to the surrounding area.

Prior to clearing the subject footprint, we will be digging up, potting and preserving for replanting the desirable native plants from the footprint. Next we will carefully stockpile the native “San Juan Gold” loamy soil to be used when we re-vegetate the site. A cistern rain water catchment system for irrigation and utility purposes is also planned.
